The story took place in the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. Tuk-Tuk is a great novel about a man
named (Spike) with a heart of gold and strong will to do what it takes to take care of his sick mom.
Despite the unfortunate lose of his job, Spike bought an old 3-wheeled taxi (tuk-tuk), with the little
savings he had, taking a chance to learn to drive it and make a living to support himself and his
sick mom. The story is gripping, heartening, full of surprises and mixed with romance. As you read
the story, you will not want to put it down as it keeps you curious and intrigued with fast moving
events and surprises... High praises goes to the author, Thomas W. Konkol for a well-written first
novel with such a riveting story. I look forward to reading his future novels...
A vibrant novel from cover to cover, May 7, 2005

Tuk-Tuk is a novel about one man's adventure springing from mundane necessities. Living in
Bangkok, Spike must cope with the loss of his job and the need to take care of his mother. Just as
despair begins to sink in, he discovers an old tuk-tuk, or three-wheeled miniature taxi, and
gambles his savings on his last hope for self-sufficiently. Learning the trade of the taximan the
hard way, forced to confront street thugs and worse, Spike survives hardship after hardship. Then
as a terrible catastrophe devastates the city and his mother is hospitalized, Spike learns of bizarre
events concerning a mysterious tuk-tuk speeding through downtown. No one can catch the
mystery vehicle - can they? At times witty, romantic, gritty, and all too real as it centers about one
man's struggle to earn an honest living, Tuk-Tuk is a vibrant novel from cover to cover and highly
recommended.

Gentle and thoughtful book capturing an essence of exotic places and emphasizing the quiet yet
resolve demeanor of its people. Brisk action takes you on the rollercoaster of adventures where
even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference in someone's life. As you roam thru busy
streets of Bangkok you can almost smell the dust, feel the heat of the sun,and taste delicious,
spicy and aromatic food. The book just sweeps you of into a whirlpool of difficulties and mishaps
so universally experienced by all of us no matter where we live.
